While all of us have experienced discoloration and dark circles under or around our eyes, for most of us this only happens when we are stressed out or tired. Normally, avoiding stress and making sure to get plenty of rest is enough to reduce dark circles, but for some who are plagued by dark circles under the eyes all of the time, this just isn't enough.
There are some great ways to reduce dark circles though:
There are some great ways to reduce dark circles though:
- Rub wet coffee grinds onto the under-eye area. The caffeine can actually help restrict blood vessels and reduce discoloration. Make sure to leave the coffee grinds on the skin for at least 15 minutes though.
- Try using an ice pack on the eyes for 15 minutes when waking in the morning. Dark circles under the eyes are often caused by the shadow cast underneath the eye from localized swelling. By reducing this swelling you can reduce the appearance of dark circles pretty remarkably.
- A dark circle reducing eye cream can work wonders for discoloration. Look for an eye cream with peptides such as regu-age, dermaxyl and haloxyl. All of these peptides work to strengthen capillaries and circulation around the eyes. If you find an eye cream with vitamin A (retinyl palmitate or retinol), you can also increase the thickness of the skin under the eyes. Much discoloration is due to the thinning of the skin, and the pigment of the blood under the skin shining through.
- Eat a healthy diet. Just by getting plenty of vitamins and nutrients in your diet you can reduce under-eye circles.
