Winter Time Skin Care

Having trouble with your skin during the winter months?  The cold weather and drying heaters can have a profound effect on drying out your skin.  But there are some easy ways to combat this:

  • Moisturize Daily - find a safe and natural face cream and use it twice daily
  • Drink Plenty of Water - this can have a great effect on reducing dry skin
  • Fish Oil - taking a fish oil supplement daily can help keep the skin from being dry and flaky.

It's amazing how by following these simple 3-steps you can curb dry skin during those harsh winter months.  By keeping your skin moisturized you can help reduce wrinkles and the skin's vulnerability to damage.

Mad Hippie Review

I recently got the chance to review the full line made by Mad Hippie Skin Care and WOW!

Mad Hippie has a small line of all natural products designed to reduce wrinkles and discoloration on the face.  I used all four products including the face cream, eye cream, vitamin C serum and cream cleanser for going on 60 days, and had AMAZING results!

First off, a little about my skin.  I have some skin discoloration on my face due to a lot of time out there on the tennis court, and am starting to have some wrinkles around my eyes and upper lips.  After using Mad Hippie's products for about 4 weeks, I really started to notice some changes.  The discoloration on my face was fading (I think most likely as a result of the vitamin C serum), and the wrinkles around my eyes and lips started to become a bit less noticeable.

Now, at 8 weeks, I have to say, my skin looks GREAT!  The discoloration is almost entirely gone, and the wrinkles (particularly around me eyes) have decreased tremendously.  I've noticed that the little bit of puffiness I had underneath my eyes is pretty much entirely gone as well.

Check out Mad Hippie if you are looking for a safe and very effective line of facial care products - I'm so glad I did!

I've bought this product now for my sister as well as sister-in-law, and they are now converts as well!  A great line of all natural, anti-aging skin care products that really live up to everything they claim and MORE!

What is the Best Peptide in Skin Care?

Many people have heard about peptides, but don't know how they really work.  Peptides are short strings of amino acids, that the body uses to signal specific processes.  They are essentially the body's messengers, that work to tell the body to perform different actions.

One of the most popular and exciting peptides out there right now being used in only the best skin care products is matrixyl 3000.  Matrixyl 3000 is a peptide that mimics the appearance of broken down collagen.  This peptide signals to the body that the skin has been damaged, and the skin must turn on the activation of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

Much in the way that a laser slightly damages the skin and activates the skin's healing response, matrixyl 3000 is able to do so without damaging the skin.  This means that there is no recovery time as is the case with retinol, lasers, alpha hydroxy acids, scrubs, chemical peels, dermabrasion, and other exfoliating products and procedures.

Matrixyl 3000 is truly the wonder peptide!  Look for it in the best serums and creams made by the most premium skin care companies.

Getting Rid of Dark Circles Under the Eyes

While all of us have experienced discoloration and dark circles under or around our eyes, for most of us this only happens when we are stressed out or tired.  Normally, avoiding stress and making sure to get plenty of rest is enough to reduce dark circles, but for some who are plagued by dark circles under the eyes all of the time, this just isn't enough.

There are some great ways to reduce dark circles though:

  • Rub wet coffee grinds onto the under-eye area.  The caffeine can actually help restrict blood vessels and reduce discoloration.  Make sure to leave the coffee grinds on the skin for at least 15 minutes though.
  • Try using an ice pack on the eyes for 15 minutes when waking in the morning.  Dark circles under the eyes are often caused by the shadow cast underneath the eye from localized swelling. By reducing this swelling you can reduce the appearance of dark circles pretty remarkably.
  • A dark circle reducing eye cream can work wonders for discoloration.  Look for an eye cream with peptides such as regu-age, dermaxyl and haloxyl.  All of these peptides work to strengthen capillaries and circulation around the eyes.  If you find an eye cream with vitamin A (retinyl palmitate or retinol), you can also increase the thickness of the skin under the eyes.  Much discoloration is due to the thinning of the skin, and the pigment of the blood under the skin shining through.
  • Eat a healthy diet.  Just by getting plenty of vitamins and nutrients in your diet you can reduce under-eye circles.
Follow these simple steps to reduce dark circles under your eyes and get the beautiful skin you desire! Remember though, discoloration under the eyes is not the same as discoloration on other parts of the face, and must be dealt with in a different manner.
